Visiting Northern Nevada

The sprawling landscape of northern Nevada is stunning during the winter and spring, and can be easily explored with a drive along Interstate 80. This highway stretches from the Utah border in northeast NV to the Tahoe National Forest, which overlaps between California and NV. Along the way, you’ll have a chance to explore charming cities like Elko, Winnemucca, and Fallon.

As you venture west, you’ll find the Reno, a welcoming and warm respite from the road. Reno is home to a wealth of excellent attractions, and features many of the big city amenities you might find in southern Nevada, but blended with warm, small town charms. As you plan your visit for the fall, winter, or even out in to the spring, be sure to check out the National Automobile Museum, and the Nevada Museum of Art.

To carry the moniker “biggest little city in the world” means a responsibility to treat guests and locals alike to premier events, festivals, and concerts – and Reno does just that this fall and winter. The Wrangler/Professional’s Choice ACTRA National Finals is one of northern Nevada’s premier rodeo events. Held in October at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center, this team roping competition will span eight days.
