Pro Sports in the Golden State
Don't Miss the Lakers and Kings
California features a wealth of NBA action. The Los Angeles metro area features the Lakers and the Clippers. The Bay Area has the excitement of the Golden State Warriors, and California’s Gold Country region features the Sacramento Kings. Whatever region you find yourself traveling to, make plans to take in all the dunks, swats, and steals of California’s NBA action.
Head to Los Angeles during the season (October – April) and visit the Staples Center, home to both the Clippers and the Lakers. First established as the Buffalo Braves in 1970, the Clippers eventually moved to San Diego in 1978, then again to Los Angeles in 1984. The Lakers carry a rich tradition of history, having won 17 championships, 32 conference titles, and have a slew of players in the hall of fame.
Travel into Sacramento and visit the Sleep Train Arena, home to the Sacramento Kings. First incepted as the Rochester Royals in 1945, the Kings franchise would move to Cincinnati in 1957. By 1972, they were the Kansas City-Omaha Kings, and by 1975 they dropped the Omaha and were simply known as the Kansas City Kings.
In 1985, the franchise would make the move to Sacramento, where they still play to this day. Visiting some nearby cities like Lodi, and Pollock Pines during the spring? Don’t miss out on all the regal action of Sacramento Kings basketball.
Oakland basketball fans gather for Golden State Warrior games. Head across the bay from San Francisco into Oracle Arena, home of the Warriors, and watch as they battle for Western Conference supremacy.
