Visit the Timucuan Ecological & Historic Preserve

When traveling to northeast Florida, take some time to visit the Timucuan Ecological and Historical Preserve to play and frolic on over 46,000 acres of breathtaking scenic wetlands, wildlife and a historic fort from yesteryears. Located on the outskirts of Jacksonville, Florida, not only is Timucuan chock-full of history and nature, but there are tons of fun attractions for all ages.

Relax on the private beach, which offers aquatic sports, swimming, and wildlife viewing, or try your hand at kayaking on Clapboard Creek. Hike the trails on Fort George Island or explore the marshes of Talbot Islands State Park. Boat along the St. John's River and bird watch throughout the park.

History buffs will enjoy touring the historic sites like the American Beach Sand Dune, Kingsley Plantation, and Fort Caroline National Memorial, the fort that commemorates the French’s early presence in its first settlement in the 16th century.
