Delight Your Senses at Wyoming’s Beautiful Gardens 

Set aside some time on your trip to unwind at Wyoming’s beautiful gardens. Many of the state’s parks feature a bounty of plants and flowers but the must-see on your list should be the Cheyenne Botanical Gardens. Spread over nine acres at Lions Park, the gardens are designed to showcase the native plants and flowers of the state and to demonstrate the diversity of the region’s vegetation.

The gardens feature both indoor and outdoor plants. The 6800-square-foot conservatory boasts three greenhouses brimming with tropical plants, vegetables, herbs, and bedding plants. The outside gardens feature annuals, perennials, cacti, succulents, roses, and wildflowers. Don’t miss the Garden Labyrinth and wetlands display.

The grounds are open from dawn to dusk daily and admission is free. The High Plains Arboretum, an affiliate of the Cheyenne Botanical Gardens, features 62 acres of historic trees and shrubs. Established as the Great Plains Field Station in 1928, the arboretum first studied trees, fruits, vegetables, and plants to see how many could survive Wyoming’s challenging climate. The arboretum is west of Cheyenne off I-80 at 8301 Hildreth Road.
