Historic Sites
Fort Caspar is a reconstructed frontier outpost. Tour several buildings and see exhibits at the museum. Fort Laramie is one of the most famous military outposts in the country. See a short video and view uniforms, weapons, and artifacts representative of the western frontier. Independence Rock is just 50 miles south of Casper. The 136-ft. tall rock marks the spot where pioneers carved their names as a milestone of their journey to the West.
Road Trips & Tours
Travel the South Big Horn/ Red Wall Back Country Byway for 102 miles and see incredible views of the Big Horn Mountain Range. Begin at US20/26 west of Casper and continue your journey to Fifty-Mile Flat. Notice how the landscape changes to ponderosa pines and rock formations carved by winds. The Red Wall is the prominent geologic wonder, but you’ll want to save time for the Hole-In-The-Wall hideout of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
