Explore The Wonders Of Zion National Park
Zion National Park was named as Utah’s first national park and is the best known of “The Mighty Five.” Accessed by driving through Mount Carmel and Springdale, the Park covers 150,000 picturesque acres and offers numerous opportunities for adventure travelers.
Within its scenic acreage is the often-photographed Zion Canyon, as well as Kolob Canyon. It’s also home to two very famous landmark areas: the Subway and the Narrows.
The Subway is a slot canyon, shaped like a tube that requires a permit for exploration. It requires strenuous hiking, underground swimming, rappelling, and more to examine the formation fully, but it is an unforgettable experience.
The Narrows is a hike that winds through the Temple of Sinawava, taking the path through a gorge that will surround you with 1,000-foot high canyon walls. This too requires strenuous hiking of at least 10 miles, so be prepared with extra water and other supplies.
Generally, the Park offers a wide range of outdoor activities, including birding, cycling rock climbing, hiking, and horseback riding. There are even opportunities for excursions on the Virgin River. There is also a wealth of information on the Park’s ancient human inhabitants at the Zion Human History Museum.
