Enjoy Winter Fun like Skiing & Snowmobiling

This winter, make your travel plans for South Dakota. A state rich in early American history, South Dakota features vast plains of open wilderness, perfect for the cavalier explorer – or the ski enthusiast. In the eastern half of South Dakota, explore cities like Watertown and Yankton.

In Yankton, you’ll have the privilege of snowmobiling across vast amounts of snowy-covered land at the Lewis and Clark Recreation Area. North of Yankton is Watertown, where you and the family will enjoy Pelican Lake Recreation Area which yields a bounty of cross-country skiing opportunities. Add a few extra layers and have your fun swooshing across the snow-covered landscape.

Although not a traditional winter excursion, head to Keystone and visit Mount Rushmore. Neatly set in between Keystone, Custer, and Hill City, bundle up and traverse the snowy hiking trails as you explore and examine the famous, American landmark.
