Urban Cycling to Forested Bike Trails

Cycling is just one of many ways to explore outdoor Washington. Whether zipping along forested trails or spinning down the roadways of urban Seattle, Washington is certainly a bike-friendly state.

Set in the Puget Sound just south of Bellingham, the town of Mount Vernon is just inland of the Skagit Bay and home to some great biking trails. Hike or bike to the top of Little Mountain in Little Mountain Park, or head to the nearby Larrabee State Park for more trails in the Chuckanut Mountains.

Mountain bikers won’t want to miss Stevens Pass Bike Park in the Wenatchee National Forest. Set in Leavenworth within the Washington Cascades, Stevens Pass features trails like the Rock Crusher, Slingshot Wookie, and Lichen-it – plus the convenience of the Hogsback Chairlift.

Other mountainous bike trails include the 24-mile John Wayne Pioneer Trail near Othello and Moses Lake, eight-miles of bike trails at Fort Stevens State Park on the coast, and the 23-mile Fish Lake Trail near Spokane in eastern Washington.

The Seattle metropolitan area features bike-friendly spots like Discovery Park, and the 27-mile Burke-Gilman Sammamish Trail along the Sammamish River. Each June, nearby Issaquah – hosts the annual Evergreen Mountain Bike Festival. Join hundreds of other cycling enthusiasts from around the Puget Sound at Duthie Hill for bike demos, trail rides, and live entertainment.
