Attractions of Moss Point
East of Gulfport and Biloxi, the Gulf Coast city of Moss Point is a scenic getaway set in southern Mississippi.
Visitors can easily find adventure in this coastal community’s nature centers, beaches, and the Gulf Islands National Seashore – or inner city attractions like the Downtown Waterfront or the Riverfront Boardwalk.
Set in Moss Point along Interstate 10 and the Pascagoula River, the Pascagoula River Audubon Center is a solid example of coastal Mississippi’s stunning bird and wildlife population.
Preserving one of the country’s remaining free-flowing river systems, the center provides conservation tips and education. Check out McCoy's Swamp and River Tours, catch the hummingbird migration, and keep and eye out during your trek along the Mississippi Coast Birding Trail.
For more outdoor adventure along the Mississippi Sound and the Gulf of Mexico, explore the gorgeous Gulf Islands National Seashore – seven barrier islands within the Gulf of Mexico, just south of Moss Point, Biloxi and Gulfport. The Mississippi District includes Petit Bois, Horn, East Ship, West Ship, Cat Islands, and the Davis Bayou Area – the only part accessible by vehicle. Visitors may stretch out on white-sanded beaches and splash around in the crystal clear waters, or explore nature trails, picnic spots, and wildlife sanctuaries.
Explore the William M. Colmer Visitor Center within the Davis Bayou Area, or enjoy boating close to Horn Island. Other Gulf Islands National Seashore activities include biking and hiking, snorkeling, fishing, and bird watching.
