River Raisin National Battlefield Park

Found in the southern Michigan town of Monroe, the River Raisin National Battlefield Park preserves the site of the Battle of Frenchtown between the U.S., Great Britain, and a local Native American tribe. The park is just a short drive south of Woodhaven – a suburb of the Detroit Metropolitan area.

Once there, visitors are encouraged to explore the Battlefield Loop and River Raisin Heritage Trail – ideal for a quick, riverside hike or bicycle ride. Visitors can gain some historical context and find out more about the infamous Battle of 1812 with a stop at the River Raisin Visitor Center.
