Outdoor Recreation in Ontario
Thousand Islands National Park is one of the smallest in the province, at only nine square kilometres, but yields a unique blend of land-based and aquatic recreation. Located in eastern Ontario, the park features 21 islands and two mainland properties, including a visitor centre in Mallorytown Landing. Truly an outdoors person’s paradise, the park offers endless boating, paddling, hiking, and lots of exciting activities.
The Jones Creek Trail System is an ideal way to take in the majesty of land in and around the Park. The Trail System is 12-kilometre network of roundtrip nature, hiking, and walking trails – each ranging from very easy to difficult. Fishing is a popular sport to try on any visit to Thousand Islands – you're free to do so at any of the islands with a dock.
Any winter visit to Thousand Islands NP should be met with a day of snowshoeing – many of the same hiking trails found along the Jones Creek Trail System become excellent snowshoeing paths. The chill of winter should not keep you from enjoying Thousand Island National Park.
