Niagara Falls
Those ready to see one of the most famous attractions in southern Ontario, travel to the city of Niagara Falls. The city is named after the world-renowned Niagara Falls, on the Niagara River. Niagara Falls features two large waterfalls, Horseshoe Falls, in Ontario and American Falls in New York.
Horseshoe Falls, the largest of all of the falls, is one of the most voluminous waterfalls in the world. Ninety percent of the water flowing over the entire Niagara Falls flows over Horseshoe Falls.
The water flowing over the horseshoe-shaped crest, flows at a rate of twenty miles-per-hour from 174 feet high. It hits the base of the 184 foot-deep river, creating a tremendous amount of mist.
While in Southern Ontario, be sure to schedule plenty of time to visit Niagara Falls. Some of the activities at the Falls include the popular White Water Walk, allowing visitors to walk to the edge of the "world's widest stretches of whitewater" and the historical Maid of the Mist boat ride to the basin of the falls. Niagara's Fury, the 4-D attraction, Journey of the Falls, Whirlpool Aero Car and the Table Rock Welcome Centre, are also wonderful attractions available at Niagara Falls.
