From Calgary and southern Alberta, to Edmonton and north, visitors find a full plate of winter activities in Alberta. Winter sports are a major part of Canadian culture – hockey and curling among the most popular. Head to Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary and catch the intensity of the Calgary Flames as they battle the Western Conference. And don't forget the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL dominate the ice, another exciting Alberta hockey team.
Adventure over to the University of Alberta – visit the Clare Drake Arena and watch as the Bears and Pandas men's and women's hockey teams fire up the ice. In Edmonton, head into Rexall Place for more NHL action as the Edmonton Oilers fiercely compete for a chance at Lord Stanley's Cup.
Two hours south of Edmonton in Red Deer, you'll find the always fun and interesting Alberta Sports Hall of Fame & Museum.
