Explore San Joaquin Wineries and Vineyards
Welcome to the largest wine-producing region in California, the San Joaquin Valley. This lush, fertile farmland has often been called “the food basket of the world” for the bounty of its produce. Oranges, almonds, peaches, tomatoes, kiwis, and pistachios all thrive in this inland valley – and so does wine. You’ll encounter numerous San Joaquin wineries and vineyards spread across the seven-county region, which stretches from the Tehachapi Mountains in the south to Modesto and Lodi Wine Country in the north.
Sip an oaky Chardonnay at Ernest and Julio Gallo, the world’s biggest family-owned winery and the top exporter of California wines. Prefer a small-batch experience? Try the Cabernet Sauvignon at Cedar View Winery, which pairs well with the backdrop of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Plan a picnic at Michael-David Winery and pick up fresh treats at their fruit stand and bakery. Beginners might want to start at the Lodi Wine and Visitor Center, where hundreds of wines are available for sampling along with expert advice. With so many vineyards to choose from in the San Joaquin Valley, you’re sure to find a palate-pleasing wine tasting experience.
Lodi Wine & Visitor Center
Plan your next visit to Lodi and have a wine tasting adventure. Be sure to check out the Lodi Wine & Visitor Center, found on the grounds of the Wine & Roses Restaurant and Spa. Ideal for any wine novice to the most experienced sommelier, the Lodi Wine & Visitor Center will introduce you to wines of the Lodi Appellation and the central valley.
As you tour the Lodi Wine & Visitor Center, you'll discover hundreds of wine to sample and learn about from close to 80 region wineries. Whether you're a fan of the bold, full bodied reds, light, sharp whites, or fall somewhere in between with a Rosé, the Lodi Win & Visitor Center is a must-see destination in California. In mid-May, check out Zinfest.
