Experience Charming Port Towns & Historic Alaskan Islands

Alaska’s Inside Passage and Southwest region are teeming with port-side cities and islands. Dutch Harbor of recent fame as the setting of TVs ‘The Deadliest Catch’ is the largest city on the Aleutian Islands. As the only US city, besides Pearl Harbor that was attacked during World War II, it is home to the Aleutian World War II Visitors Center that offers a video and exhibits on the battle that was fought in Unalaska.

Described as ‘the art capital of Alaska’, Homer, the small city on Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula is lined with shops, art galleries and seafood restaurants. The Pratt Museum offers regional history on natural phenomena found around Kachemack Bay. Galleries range from contemporary to fine art, pottery, ivory and other native crafts.

Ketchikan, Alaska is a unique port city on the Inside Passage and a popular stop for a number of cruises. Mostly known for its collection of native totem poles, the city also offers stunning natural beauty in its proximity to Misty Fjords National Monument and the surrounding glacier-carved wilderness.
