Enjoy Nature’s Beauty at Stunning Indiana Gardens
Stroll among gorgeous Indiana gardens and enjoy acres of botanical wonders.
International Friendship Gardens
Plan an exploration of Michigan City in northern Indiana on your next visit. Whether you're visiting for business or pleasure, be sure to make the International Friendship Gardens part of your agenda.
Nearly 107 acres of woodlands, trails, ponds, and open pastures, the International Friendship Gardens, typically, opens in mid-May and stays open through the end of October. It's closed Mondays and Tuesdays. A short drive from La Porte, the International Friendship Gardens is available as a wedding venue, is host to a number of annual events, and features a golf cart path for those who may have trouble walking.
As you explore the Friendship Gardens, don't miss a chance to check out Pottawattamie Park, just northeast of Krueger Memorial Park. The next time you find yourself in northern Indiana during summer, make sure you head for the International Friendship Gardens.
Quilt Gardens
Popular with art lovers, photographers, and gardeners alike, the Quilt Gardens along the Heritage Trail stretch across seven northern Indiana communities, including Elkhart. The very best master gardeners and painters in the region share lush floral arrangements and towering murals modeled after intricate quilts.
From May through October, visitors bask in arrangements like Elkhart’s "Flower Carpet" along the RiverWalk in the Arts & Entertainment District. Other past favorites include the “Swirling Flowers” at the Elkhart Country 4-H Fairgrounds.
Wellfield Botanical Gardens
Situated over 36 acres, the Wellfield Botanical Gardens features ponds, woodlands, 24 individual gardens, and event space. Minutes away from downtown Elkhart, the garden offers visitors peaceful walks through trails and waterways. Don't miss the gardens' beautiful and colorful reflections in the water.
The gardens are also a great community center of northern Indiana, thanks to its extensive volunteering program and year-round special events schedule. The gardens are open full-time April 1 through October 31 and weather permitting November 1 through March 31.
