Hells Canyon National Recreation Area

Idaho is home to a wide range of outdoor recreation. Hells Canyon National Recreation Area was established in 1975 to preserve the area's archaeological history. The area is located north of McCall in north-central Idaho. Approximately 215,000 acres of the area's land is a designated Wilderness area.

Lace up your hiking shoes and trek along some of the 900 miles of hiking trails and escape into the wilderness for a fun day. Enjoy a hike through North America's deepest river gorge. Keep a lookout for the Nez Perce Indian petroglyphs found on the canyon's rock walls, while boating along on the Snake River.
