Times Square

One of the most iconic tourist draws in the United States, Times Square is a commercial intersection in Midtown Manhattan, at the center of New York City.

Originally known as Longacre Square, the location was renamed when the New York Times set up headquarters in the building now known as One Times Square in 1904.

Today, the sights and sounds of Times Square represent the world’s view of New York City – bright neon billboards stretch high into the sky as crowds gather around buskering street performers and pack into numerous retail and dining destinations.

The Broadway Theatre District and shows like the Phantom of the Opera and the Lion King are popular draws – while each year, thousands line the streets for a glimpse of the famous New Year’s Eve Ball Drop.
